The Circular Economy is Revolutionizing People's Dressing Principles
Previously, dressing and clothing purchases were based on what looked good, without much thought to their origin. Today, clothing manufacturers are required to be able to explain the production processes of their garments without concealing any stages. Interest in origin and production processes has, in turn, brought people closer to supporting domestic products. For the success of the circular economy, it is important that already at the design stage of clothes and accessories, it is taken into account that the product should last as long as possible in its original form.
When making a purchase from Emmy, you can be sure you have chosen responsibly. The products in the selection do not cause the environmental harm that manufacturing new items would. All clothes and accessories are hand-checked at Emmy’s facilities in Lohja. As an Emmy seller and buyer:
- A new opportunity is given for the garment to circulate in its original form for longer.
- No natural resources have been consumed or pollution caused, which would have occurred in the production of a new garment or accessory. Every item that enters circulation is good for the environment!
Bringing the circular economy into the daily choices of Finns is key to reducing emissions. The current lifestyle in Finland would require the natural resources of four Earths, which is an alarming sign that consumption behavior needs to change. By using existing sustainable solutions daily, we could cut everyday emissions by up to 37 percent.
Fortunately, the number of environmentally conscious consumers is on the rise, and Emmy’s customers are part of this group. In the long run, fast fashion does not last in use, whereas responsible and sustainable fashion can even be passed from one user to another. With these products, the resale value also remains such that the product does not end up being recycled after use. Unfortunately, fast fashion is often of such quality that it ends up being recycled after a short lifespan.
